Relegated LIV Golfer touched by Phil Mickelson's message as he attempts comeback

Relegated LIV Golfer Anthony Kim was touched by Phil Mickelson’s message as he attempted a comeback to the LIV league. Kim had a disappointing LIV Golf season in 2025 with no top 20 finishes throughout the year. As a result, the player was relegated from the league, finding himself in the drop zone.

Kim is currently playing at the Hong Kong Open, and the golfer made it through the cut on Friday with his best 36-hole score, which was 5 under. Following that, Phil Mickelson made a post on X appreciating Kim’s achievement and efforts. His words were:

“He’s worked hard and has gotten better everyday. I’m rooting hard for his success”

To that, Kim replied with a four-word response to Phil Mickelson. He wrote:

“Appreciate u my brother”

On Friday, after his second round at the LIV Golf Hong Kong, Kim joined Bunkered.com and shared his playing experience at the ongoing tournament. He said:

“It’s the best I’ve hit the ball since coming back. I just haven’t got the ball in the hole. I definitely finally see the work I’m doing. I’m excited. I wish I’d have scored a little bit better but hopefully I make it to the weekend and get another couple days.”

At the Hong Kong Open, Anthony Kim scored 8 under in total. He fired 68 in the opening round of the tournament with two birdies on the front nine and three birdies on the back nine.

Followed by 67 in the second round with three birdies on the front nine and one birdie on the back nine. Kim scored 67 in the third round with two birdies on the front nine and three birdies on the back nine.

Phil Mickelson appreciates Anthony Kim's hard work after poor results in the LIV Golf season

Anthony Kim made a social media post in August 2025, acknowledging all the support he received from LIV Golf and his fans. Kim added that he was thankful to the golf world, even though he failed to perform well in 2025. His words were:

“Regardless of my results I wanna thank H.E. every1 involved @livgolf_league not excluding the volunteers & fans 4 ur support. My family & I r gr8ful🙏& even tho I failed this time around if I have learned anything in recovery it’s 2 get back up & keep goin.”

As this post came up, Phil Mickelson wrote about the hard work Kim put in to make it that far. He wrote:

“You’ve worked really hard and made so much progress. I know you haven’t had the results you wanted but you have so much to be proud of.”

Kim’s last LIV Golf event was the LIV Golf Indianapolis, where he finished at T51 after scoring 2 over. His other LIV Golf appearances were at the LIV Golf Chicago, the LIV Golf United Kingdom, and the LIV Golf Andalucía, where he finished at T44, T47, and T52, respectively.
