Recently, Mickelson did the same when he reacted to a tweet written by a citizen journalist. On X, a citizen journalist named Andrew Hart tweeted about the power outages in Los Angeles reaching Crenshaw and South LA.

Hart further added that the situation has led to California Governor Gavin Newsom facing criticism. Mickelson quote-tweeted Andrew Hart's post and wrote that he knew something like that would always happen. The LIV golfer wrote:

Like the above-mentioned instance, Phil Mickelson also slammed Gavin Newsom and accused him of harming Californians with ridiculous energy costs. He also accused the Governor of sabotaging Sable, Valero Benicia, and others in favor of foreign tankers from Russia and China.

While Mickelson continues to stay active by sharing these takes on social media, the last time he was spotted playing competitive golf was in August 2025 at LIV Golf Michigan. Given how things currently stand, it seems Mickelson will only return to competition when the LIV season resumes in 2026.
