PGA Tour pro Ryo Hisatsune’s Club drops on golf ball incident at Australian Open explored

Ryo Hisatsune caught himself in a golf ball incident at the final round of the Australian Open. The Japanese star faced a penalty on the eighth hole that forced him down the leaderboard and resulted in his worst round of the week.

On Sunday, December 7, Ryo Hisatsune entered the Royal Melbourne at 6-under. He started with a bogey on the third and then made a birdie on the seventh. On the par-4 eighth, Hisatsune was short of the green after two shots. Before the third shot, he decided to change the club, and while doing this he dropped one club onto the ball, resulting in pushing it some distance.

As per Rule of Golf 9.4b, if the player lifts the ball or moves it, he will get a single-stroke penalty. As a result, Ryo Hisatsune faced a penalty and then proceeded to make a double bogey.

The remaining round didn't go great either, as he finished with 6-over 77 that included two bogeys and a triple bogey on the par-4 13th. The 23-year-old finished at even par after 72 holes and dropped 36 spots down to T51.
