Nelly Korda opened up about the best way to grow the game at this week’s Grant Thornton Invitational. The American golfer is playing this week in a mixed-field event featuring the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour players.
She attended the pre-tournament press conference ahead of the event, in which she shared her excitement for the tournament. She was also asked about this week’s event featuring LPGA Tour and PGA Tour players. She said it’s the “best way to grow the game.”
"The best way to grow the game is for us to come together and lift each other up, support each other," Korda said (via TeeScripts). "That's what this tournament does. At the end of the day, it showcases the best women and men coming together and having fun and playing something different, something that we don't get to do every single day.
"At the end of the day, I mean, I think that just brings so much excitement kind of to what the normal golf fans usually see week in and week out," she added.
The Grant Thornton Invitational started back in 2023, and this week, players are preparing for its third season. Lydia Ko and Jason Day won the inaugural season. They registered a one-stroke win over Corey Conners and Brooke Henderson.
In the second edition, Jake Knapp and Patty Tavatanakit won the event by registering a one-stroke win over Tom Kim and Atthaya Thitikul. Nelly Korda will tee off this week in a group with Denny McCarthy.
