Nelly Korda dubbed her elder sister Jessica her ‘built-in best buddy’ in 2021. The then upcoming golfer claimed that her sibling was her only company while traveling far and wide for golf events. Years later, the duo is once again teeing up together at Grant Thornton Invitational 2025 and Nelly is excited for it.

The two LPGA Tour winners are currently at the Tiburon Golf Club, located at The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburon in Florida, for the team event. Interestingly, Nelly is teamed up with PGA Tour counterpart Denny McCarthy, while Jessica sides with Bud Cauley. However, the sibling duo seems more excited to spot each at the course. Jesscia also revealed that Nelly ‘ordered’ her dinner ahead of the tournament, keeping their dinner together tradition alive.

For the unversed, Jessica Korda is making her first start in two-and-a-half years this weekend. The six-time LPGA Tour winner had stopped playing in May 2023 after becoming a mother for the first time.

Speaking about having her older sister back on the playing field, Nelly Korda said, as quoted by Tee Scripts:

“Yeah, we played our first practice round yesterday in a couple years. It's so nice. Obviously, she's been out a couple times here and there and throughout the years, but I'm excited for her to tee it up this week and to kind of feel the nerves back. It's going to be a fun week. It's always so nice to have family around. I hope she just has fun and keeps it kind of light.”

Jessica Korda returns to golf after 2.5 years

Jessica Korda’s last LPGA Tour appearance came at the 2023 Cognizant Founders Cup. The then-29-year-old withdrew from the competition after ten holes in the second round due to a back injury. Following this, she went on an indefinite break. During the time, she welcomed her first son, Greyson, on February 3, 2024.

Now, the older sister of World No.2 Nelly is set to tee it up at Grant Thornton Invitational after two-and-a-half years on the sidelines. Last year, the three-time Solheim Cupper admitted she was “itching” to play pro golf again. However, she claimed a 2026 return was what she was “shooting for.”

Jessica Korda said in December 2024, as quoted by Golf Monthly:

“I’m definitely itching to be able to play again, how much, I’m not so sure... I’ll take 2025 to assess and then per our maternity, 2026 is kind of what we’re shooting for.”

It is pertinent to note that LPGA Tour’s maternity policy allows golfers up to 24 months from the date of the child’s birth before returning to the playing field. Jessica’s son, Grayson is now 22-months-old. The boy had earlier gained attention online after Nelly posted about her new ‘aunt’ life on social media.

It is also noteworthy that Nelly has won seven times on the LPGA Tour including her second Major title at the 2024 Chevron Championship, while Jessica was away.
