Victor Perez recently became the latest PGA Tour regular to join LIV Golf. The Frenchman replaced the relegated Frederik Kjettrup at Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC ahead of the 2026 season. Weeks after making the move, the 33-year-old has admitted that the potential resolution of the divide between golf leagues is still far.For the unversed, Perez had earlier cited PGA Tour’s ‘challenging’ rule changes one of the reasons for his move to LIV. Now, the golfer has reiterated the same and added comments on DP World Tour’s treatment on the breakaway tour players as well. The three-time European Tour winner addressed the penalties placed on the Saudi-backed series players and said there would have been an ‘agreement’ between the fighting circuits in a “perfect world.” He added that the middle stance between the two circuits is “still very blurry.”He further claimed the DP World Tour is in an “awkward” position wanting players to ‘come back and play’ but without waiving the hefty fines they placed on LIV stars.LIV Golf's latest star Victor Perez said, as quoted by Today’s Golfer:“In a perfect world, there will be an agreement where we’ll be able to play happily ever after, but it’s still very blurry as far as what both tours are willing to agree on… The DP World Tour is in an awkward position where they would really like the players to come back and play, but those players are also paying those hefty fines and that will not unite the game in any way, shape or form.I know guys are saying they don’t want to pay the fines, which is understandable. And so, this is what it has become, unfortunately, where no one seems to see common ground. No one can get what they want and the compromises are probably too big to give at the moment.”For the unversed, LIV Golf, which had earlier paid off its players’ fines, have informed their members that it will no longer cover the penalties imposed on players starting 2026. Interestingly, Ryder Cuppers Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton are currently following up on their ongoing appeals on sanctions placed by the DP World Tour.Victor Perez reveals reason to pick LIV Golf over DP World TourVictor Perez became a DP World Tour regular after grinding his way up the ladder from the Alps Tour. The Frenchman made the European circuit his home. However, he claims to have grown past the series after it began offering fewer competitive incentives across a full season and even less stability than before. The 2023 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship stated that it made ‘more sense’ to play on the LIV Golf series compared to DP World Tour, which he accused of losing 10 best players every season. The 33-year-old further claimed that the two series’ were similar while defending his recent move.Justifying his move to LIV Golf, Victor Perez added:“I think you know the events that we’re playing, the competition you’re playing against, the prize money that you’re playing for, all these factors are significantly stronger than playing back on the DP World Tour… The DP World and LIV schedules are somewhat similar, besides playing in America, so there were all these factors I was looking at and it made a lot more sense to play LIV over DP World.”It is pertinent to note that Perez baked a little over $4.5 million in America last season. Now, the golfer is set to take on the Saudi-backed series events which offer $30 million purses.
