LIV Golf’s Cam Smith candidly opened up about the Ryder Cup. The Australian golfer is enjoying time away from the greens these days. This week, he was at the TMS commentary box in Adelaide, and while talking to the media, he opened up about the Ryder Cup.The LIV golfer said that his favourite team in the biennial tournament is “Europe.” However, when he was asked for the reason to support the team, he said:“I don't know… I like the Europeans, that's all I say.”He also talked about the team sports events. Smith said:“So I was fortunate enough to play for Australia in the Olympics in 2020. It was the COVID Olympics, so it wasn’t really much of a buzz. But I remember how I felt that week, and there was something about putting on that shirt with the coat of arms, and that really got you up in the morning. And yeah, there needs to be more of it, you know, and I think that’s kind of where LIV is going."There are a lot of countries that kind of keep to their own with their own teams. We’re an all-Australian team. The South Africans are an all–South African team, the English are all English. It’s kind of where it’s going, but it’s got a long way to go to be the Ryder Cup, you know. So yeah, I’m excited to be on the journey.”The Ryder Cup only features the American and European golfers.Cam Smith has played in team events in the past. He represented the International team at the Presidents Cup in 2019. He also played in the World Cup back in 2018. He started the event with an opening round of 70, followed by the next three rounds of 65, 66, and 69, and settled in second place.Meanwhile, on the LIV Golf this season, Cam Smith has recorded some impressive finishes. He started the campaign with a solid T25 finish at the Riyadh event and then had some notable finishes this season in the Saudi league.He was pretty impressive with his game at the LIV Golf Mexico City, where he carded rounds of 64, 66, and 72 and settled in a tie for ninth place. Some of his other notable finishes from this season in the Saudi league are T5 at Mexico City, T7 in Korea, and solo tenth at the United Kingdom.
