LIV Golf is eyeing new additions after it relegated six golfers in 2025. Moreover, negotiations with Si Woo Kim, who was reportedly in talks to join the league, could not materialize. However, it might have breathed a sigh of relief, as two veterans have announced their decision to continue with the league.
Every year, the breakaway tour faces speculations around its golfers' voluntary exits. Apart from that, the upcoming season would see prominent LIV icons like Bryson DeChambeau's contract expire. Amid this, the league received encouraging news after veteran pros and co-captains of Majesticks GC, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, decided to re-sign with the league.
The British golfing icons will continue their journey in the league as co-captains of the Majesticks Golf Club. Majesticks GC shared the update on X:
"Locked in for 2026🔒 A pleasure to announce @IanJamesPoulter & @WestwoodLee will be returning to the Majesticks Golf Club line up✍🏼"
Take a look at the X post here:
The two golfers have renewed their contracts for a fifth season with the Saudi PIF-backed golf league. Their team, Majesticks GC, has also welcomed Laurie Canter in place of the relegated golfer Henrik Stenson.
Poulter and Westwood's records in the 2025 season were underwhelming. Westwood finished in 46th place on the LIV Golf Individual Standings, while Poulter ended the season in 48th place, just an inch away from the drop zone. Despite that, both have kept their hopes high for the upcoming season.
Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood share their vision for LIV Golf's 2026 season
Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter have shared their vision and goals for the upcoming LIV season. In a recent press release, Ryder Cup icon Poulter said (quoted from LIV):
"I’ve been part of Majesticks Golf Club from day one, and am excited to continue on that journey as a player and co-captain. What we’ve built here, both on and off the course is special, with a clear long-term vision... Re-signing for 2026 is an easy decision for me. I’m as motivated as ever... can’t wait to help drive this team forward..."
Westwood also shared his feelings about re-signing with Majesticks GC and further stated his vision for the team's progress. The former World No. 1 said in the press release:
"It’s fantastic to continue this journey with Majesticks GC. What we’ve built together over the last few years has been incredibly rewarding, and the progression we’re making as a team and as part of LIV Golf is nothing short of incredible. I’m committed to helping push us forward in 2026..."
Both Poulter and Westwood have been a part of LIV Golf since the inaugural season. The duo played as co-captains of Majesticks GC in the 2022 LIV Golf Invitational London at the Centurion Club.
