LeBron James may be enjoying his time on the golf course, but Oakmont Country Club is one place he is happy to stay away from. The NBA star recently shared his reaction after watching a video featuring the famously difficult course and made it clear he has no plans to tee it up there.

James, who has taken up golf during the NBA offseason, posted his thoughts on X on December 18 after watching an episode of The Major Cut, a popular YouTube golf series. Reacting to the Oakmont episode, James joked that the course would be far too much for him.

“Just got done watching one of Grant, George and Wesley’s Major Cut episodes. Remind me to never play at Oakmont CC guys! OMG!! 😱 . I would be a +100! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏾‍♂️”

The episode featured Grant Horvat, George Bryan, and Wesley Bryan, who are well known for their YouTube series where they attempt to make the cut at famous championship venues under real tournament-style conditions. Their Oakmont video was released around six months ago and has since crossed 2.1 million views.

Oakmont is widely regarded as one of the toughest golf courses in the world. Known for its extremely fast greens, deep bunkers, and demanding layout, the course has tested the best players in the game for decades. Earlier this year, Oakmont hosted the 125th U.S. Open, where J.J. Spaun won his first major title. Spaun was the only player in the field to finish under par, showing just how challenging the conditions were.

Even though Oakmont is not on his list, LeBron James has continued to spend time on the golf course. He has been seen playing on several occasions and recently appeared in a viral clip, showing his growing interest in the sport.

LeBron James was recently seen back on the golf course and shared a clip from his outing on social media. In the video posted on Tuesday, December 16, the NBA star showed a two-putt that he said resulted in a par and followed it up with a small fist pump after the ball dropped.

In another video, James was caught practicing his golf swing mid-court. Watch the video here:

LeBron James has been playing golf since July 2025. Speaking earlier on Spectrum SportsNet Live, he opened up about how quickly he fell in love with the sport.

“The bug is real. I didn’t know nothing about it. People said if you ever get into the game and the bug grabs you, it’s over with. I definitely have it, man,” James said. (via @Lakers Lead - X)

He added, “I think the best thing I’ve gotten from it, besides like how competitive and hard it is, the mental challenge, which I love anything that’s mentally challenging, but you just get away from the world,” he added. “You’re out there on the green, no phones. My phone stays in the cart the whole time. I check it from time to time. But it’s just like I play my music, I’m out there with my guys. You’re out there and just in the world. I can lose my mind into the game of golf.”

Despite his growing love for golf, LeBron James has yet to compete in a Pro-Am event. Unlike him, several other NBA figures, including Charles Barkley and Stephen Curry, along with WNBA star Caitlin Clark, have taken part in such tournaments.
