Tiger Woods on Tuesday hinted at a possibility of him taking up the Ryder Cup captaincy role in 2027. Responding to a media query, the legendary golfer smirkingly stated that ‘no one has asked’ him about taking over the role. Now, residing skipper Keegan Bradley has come out to state that the mantle is Woods’ if he ‘wants’ it.For the unversed, Woods had earlier turned down the 2025 Ryder Cup captaincy which was then passed on to Bradley. The decision to hand the captaincy to the 39-year-old was lauded by Woods, despite the former’s lack of experience in leading a team event. Months later, Bradley has revealed that Woods can take on the role from his hands if the latter wishes. He doubled down by dubbing the 15-time major champion an “incredible leader.”The US’ losing captain reiterated that the 49-year-old was “going to get to be able to do it (lead the Ryder Cup team), when he wants to.”Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Hero World Challenge 2025, Keegan Bradley said, as quoted by Tee Scripts:“I think if Tiger (Woods) wants to do this, he's going to do it. Tiger is not only a hero to all of us that would be on his team, but he's also an incredible leader and a person that everyone would love to play for. But I'm pretty sure when he wants to do this, he's going to get to be able to do it.”For the unversed, the comments came just hours after Woods made the big statement hinting at a possible Ryder Cup return in 2027. The ace golfer, making his first public appearance since undergoing surgery in October, stated that he is yet to be asked about the US team captaincy role. However, he opted against clarifying whether he would be open to play at the team event.Keegan Bradley dubs Ryder Cup loss the ‘darkest time of his life’The US Ryder Cup side suffered a big defeat to Europe at Bethpage Black in September. Keegan Bradley, who had one of the best years of his professional career with a win and six top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour, saw his side accept a 15-13 defeat. Months later, the 39-year-old has revealed that he is still dealing with the fallout and dubbed it the ‘darkest time of his life.’The skipper opined that the loss in New York has been “tough” on him and his players alike. Furthermore, he admitted wanting to “hug and sit down to chat” with each of his players despite months passing after the event.Keegan Bradley said from the Bahamas:“I mean, the darkest time of my life probably (Ryder Cup loss). I don't know how else to describe it. Certainly, definitely of my career. There's always this letdown after a Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup regardless of the outcome because the emotions are so extreme. It's Ryder Cup hangover and you're just exhausted and you're down. That takes a toll on you. But there's just, it just was, it just was a tough time. Still is. Really, it's been tough for all of us; not just me, the players as well. I feel like every time I see a player on the team here I want to just go give him a hug and sit down and chat. But I'm grateful for everybody.”Despite the heartbreak, Bradley also expressed wish to take another shot at the team event captaincy. Claiming that the defeat left a ‘gaping hole in his career,’ the PGA Tour star said he ‘would love’ to rebuild the US side again.
