Iconic Scottish golf club gets new $18.5M clubhouse ahead of 150th anniversary

The Royal Dornoch Golf Club is set to get a new $18.5 million clubhouse. The iconic Scottish golf club is getting the new facility ahead of its 150th anniversary in 2027.

Established in 1877, the Royal Dornoch Golf Club has been the home to many amateur championships. It is comprised of two 18-hole courses named the Championship Course and the Struie Course, located on the Dornoch Firth.

The new clubhouse is being built on the grounds of the Scottish golf club, made of traditional sandstone and slate. The clubhouse will feature a modern restaurant, bar, and locker rooms. Besides, it will also house memorabilia celebrating the rich history of the iconic Scottish club. So far, the opening ceremony date hasn't been announced but is scheduled for next year.

The iconic Dornoch, Sutherland-based club's manager, Neil Hampton, shed light on the need for a new clubhouse at the iconic Scottish golf club.

"You'll get some of the characters, some of the trophies, some of the great events that have happened," he said as per BBC. "Our old clubhouse was nice, quaint, a bit chilly at times. It was a nice place to be but not a great place to linger. This is a much bigger and better destination to come and spend a lot more time."
