Andrew Novak and Lauren Coughlin finished off their 9-under 63 in Modified Four-ball for a three-shot victory at the Grant Thornton Invitational on Sunday. Novak sealed off his second team title this year by fending off Chris Gotterup and Jennifer Kupcho until the par-5 17th at Tiburon Golf Club. Following the win, the PGA Tour star revealed that he ‘didn't really know many of the girls’ competing against him.

For the unversed, the 2025 edition of the Grant Thornton Invitational featured 16 mixed teams, each consisting of one PGA Tour and one LPGA Tour pro. The duo fought off the remaining 15 as Coughlin's birdie putt set a team tournament record at 28-under 188. The two-time LPGA winner lauded the event for proving ‘great visibility’ for her home series as it partnered with the more popular men’s counterpart.

However, her partner admitted not knowing many players he was playing against all weekend. The 30-year-old, who won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Ben Griffin in April, said he was ‘very impressed’ with the LPGA players’ performances.

Speaking about the experience at the LPGA and PGA Tour mixed-event, Andrew Novak said, as quoted by Tee Scripts:

“Yeah, I didn't really know many of the girls at all. I hadn’t met hardly any of them before this week. It was cool to get to meet them, see their games, watch them play, watch them work. Obviously coming away very, very impressed with how good they are.”

His comment came after his playing partner Coughlin echoed a similar reaction.

She said after winning the Grant Thornton Invitational:

“I think it's great visibility for the LPGA to be able to partner with the PGA Tour and to get to play with some of the best players in the world on the men's side. It's just super fun getting to meet some of the guys that I probably wouldn't have gotten to meet. It's really, really cool.”

Andrew Novak and Lauren Coughlin win Grant Thornton Invitational

Andrew Novak made three straight birdies on the back nine to take the final day lead at the Grant Thornton Invitational 2025. The 30-year-old watched his partner Coughlin finish with a birdie putt that helped the duo set a 28-under 188 tournament record and sign off a 9-under 63 on Sunday.

The duo fended off charges from the likes of Chris Gotterup and Jennifer Kupcho (63), both of whom missed the green in tough spots. Interestingly, Novak, playing in the final group behind them, poured in a six-foot birdie putt that gave them a two-shot lead going to the final hole. Denny McCarthy and Nelly Korda (63) and Michael Brennan and Charley Hull (65) were among other groups the leaders defeated.

For the unversed, the event followed the Modified Four-ball format where both players hit tee shots, then play the other's golf ball the rest of the way. Zurich Classic of New Orleans winner Novak won a team event again on Sunday after jokingly calling it the “modern-day Grand Slam” of team events. The winning duo bagged $500,000 each for their win at Tiburon Golf Club.
