Charley Hull is competing in the Grant Thornton Invitational at Tibúron Golf Club in Naples, Florida. Before beginning the third round, the LPGA Tour professional revealed her love for chasing the top spot in tournaments.
From December 12, fans witnessed golfers from the LPGA and PGA Tour team up for the three-day mixed event. Hull and Michael Brennan are one of the sixteen teams competing in the tournament. After the second round, the duo was ranked in the second spot, one stroke away from the then-leaders Lauren Coughlin and Andrew Novak.
With such a small margin from the lead, Charley Hull stated to the reporters that she liked the idea of a chase. The 2025 Kroger Queen City champion further said, while talking to the media (quotes via LPGA Tour):
"I like stalking someone down. I like the chase idea. I'm not too sure what Michael's like. Obviously, it would have been nice going into the lead going into the final round, but we can make plenty of birdies out there tomorrow."
It's worth noting that the duo led the Grant Thornton Invitational alongside the pair of Lexi Thompson and Wyndham Clark after the first round. Both duos carded 17 under par in Friday's Scrambles. Charley Hull and Brennan scored 1 under par in Saturday's Alternate Shot round, carding three bogeys and four birdies.
In the third round, Hull and Brennan would chase the lead to try to win the third edition of the Grant Thornton Invitational. This was not the first time Hull has stated how she liked to chase.
When Charley Hull explained her mindset and love for chasing
Back in 2023, Charley Hull emerged as the runner-up of the 2023 U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach. With a brilliant display of skills and persistent efforts, the golfer from Kettering finished three strokes behind Allisen Corpuz and tied for second place.
Hull talked about her mentality following her 6-under-par score in the final round of the 2023 U.S. Open. The LET pro stated her love to chase someone down in the game and told the press (quotes via Sky Sports):
"If you want something, I'll go and get it. That's kind of my mentality. Just make as many birdies as I can because at the end of the day I'm chasing it down, so it's quite fun.
"I quite enjoy chasing someone because you got to make birdies and you got to make a move up that leaderboard. That was pretty much my mindset."
Charley Hull has played in several majors following the 2023 U.S. Open and left fans awestruck with her competitive mindset. The golfer has also achieved impressive finishes in major championships, the recent one being a T2 at the 2025 AIG Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl.
