Hero World Challenge 2025 purse breakdown: How much will each golfer earn from the $5M purse?

The 2025 Hero World Challenge has a purse of $5 million, with the winner receiving $1 million in prize money. The tournament is heading to its finale, set for Sunday, December 7. This week’s event features a field of only 20 players and has no cutline.

The winner of the tournament will receive 20 percent of the purse, followed by the runner-up, who will earn $450,000. However, if there are two ties, then the players will earn $375,000 each, and for three ties, the amount would be $333,333.34. The 20th-place finisher will earn $150,000 in prize money.

Sepp Straka has taken the lead in the game after three rounds of the 2025 Hero World Challenge. He started his campaign with an opening round of 66, followed by the next rounds of 69 and 64. After the third round, he jumped five spots on the leaderboard to take a one-stroke lead in the game.

In the post-round press conference, Straka opened up about his third round. He said (via Tee Scripts):

"I had played pretty nice. Front nine I felt like I didn't really make any putts early on, but then the putter started feeling pretty nice around the turn. Yeah, honestly, similar to yesterday. Iron play was really good, I just struggled with the driver a little bit. Hopefully clean that up for tomorrow."

Scottie Scheffler is also in contention for the title. He settled in second place after three rounds. He started with an opening round of 66, followed by the second round of 69 and 65. Alex Noren and Hideki Matsuyama tied for third place after three rounds.

Scheffler is in contention to win the Hero World Challenge for the third time in a row. He won the event in 2023 and then defended the title in 2024.
