Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump, will appear at The Annika Driven tournament presented by Gainbridge as her LPGA debut. Before the tournament began at the Pelican Golf Club, Kai Trump joined a press conference at the venue and shared the key advice she received from none other than Tiger Woods.
In the same interview, she also added the advice she received from her grandpa, Donald Trump (via ASAP Sports):
“He is the best golfer in the entire world. I would say that. And even better person. He told me to go out there and have fun and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens…I know my game pretty well so I have a few people watch things over. I don't really work with anyone right now at the moment. And my grandpa pretty much told me go out there and have fun. Just don't get nervous. Try my best not to.”
Kai Trump shared about her initial days in golf as well. The 18-year-old mentioned that she started playing golf when she was two years old.
“I started when I was two years old playing golf. Started golf and tennis when I was two years old, and my mom brought us to the course every single weekend in the summer...You're never going to be 100% and there is always something to work on. I think that's kind of keeps on bringing me back to play golf and practice golf. I was very young so I don't know when I first birdied or first whatever, but, I mean, I would say first favorite memory is probably playing the Drive, Chip & Putt maybe in 2011-ish. I think that was definitely the cool memory.”
The Annika Driven will start on November 13, and it will be a four-day tournament, which will have a cut system after two rounds. The tournament comprises a total purse of $3.25 million.
How did Kai Trump qualify for the Annika Driven?
Kai Trump got selected for the Annika Driven through the sponsor’s exemption. The tournament had three sponsor's exemptions, and Trump got an opportunity to get into the event through one of them. The Pelican Golf Club owner, Dan Doyle, invited Trump to participate in the event.
In 2025, the 18-year-old played three AJGA events, including the Arnold Palmer Invitational Junior, scoring 82-83-86. She even participated in the 2025 Junior Invitational at Sage Valley and the Dustin Johnson World Junior Championship, totalling 89-79-83-89 and 84-77, respectively.
Last year, the Annika Driven was won by Nelly Korda with a total score of 14 under. Charley Hull, Im Jin-Hee, and Zhang Weiwei occupied second place after scoring 11 under. Rose Zhang and Linn Grant landed in fifth place with 10 under.
