Donald Trump on Thursday claimed that his tally of golf championships jumped from 36 to 38. The President gloated his golf skills allegedly spent his Thanksgiving morning teeing off and his afternoon adding to his trophies. He reiterated being a ‘very low handicap.’

For the unversed, Trump is a golf fanatic and owns over 17 golf courses worldwide through the Trump Organization. He has constantly made big claims about his golf game and achievements. This Thanksgiving, he has followed it up by increasing his golf championships trophy count by two after claiming to beat a “27-year-old kid last year.” Furthermore, he also reiterated ‘not practising’ amid these championship wins.

It is pertinent to note that Trump claimed he had won 36 club titles back in August. He defended the claim by stating that “you have a lot of people following you during club championships,” at the time.

Donald Trump said on Thanksgiving, as quoted by The Mirror US:

“I’ve won 38 club championships and I don't get to practice. So I'm a very low handicap, and I've won 38…everyone legitimately. So I guess I got to be around scratch or better. I beat a plus three… I beat a 27-year-old kid last year. The fairway doesn't know how old you are. When you're walking up the middle, and he's in the rough, age doesn't matter. So, I’m a good golfer, yeah, I would have to say that. I want to be honest.”

Trump made the big claims during a holiday media session at Mar-a-Lago. This came after he made the Thanksgiving call with service members. During the meet, he announced the death of a National Guard member, 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom, who was shot near the White House on Wednesday. The tragic incident took place just hours before the President hit the golf course.

Donald Trump slams Joe Biden's golfing skill

Donald Trump was responding to a service member’s question about his golf handicap when he made the claim. Notably, the question was followed up with a query on the prospect of him playing against his predecessor Joe Biden. The President, who’d earlier slammed the latter for his golf game, used the opportunity to take a few fresh shots as well.

Taking a jibe at the former President, Donald Trump said:

“You have a lot of people talk, but they can’t play, like Biden. Biden can’t hit a ball 30 yards, I’m telling you. I looked at his swing. He cannot hit a ball 30 yards.”

For the unversed, Trump's golf championship claims have sparked controversies in the past. Interestingly, the President’s golfing history was labeled a “100% lie” in Rick Reilly's 2019 book Commander in Cheat, a deep dive into everything from the president's handicaps to tournament participation. According to the author, Trump opted to play the first round alone on his newly opened golf courses and declare it the club championship.

The book’s comments found attention earlier this year when Donald Trump made renewed claims about winning a 36th golf championship title. However, he defended his game by describing himself as a “around scratch or better” player who is ‘skilled under pressure.’ He further highlighted his appearance with his good friend and LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau’s Breaking 50 YouTube series.
