Akshay Bhatia finished round 3 of the Hero World Challenge 2025 with a 68 on Friday. With this, the PGA Tour golfer joined former Wyndham Clark (68), J.J. Spaun (68), Hideki Matsuyama (66) and Cameron Young (64) in a five-way lead at the Albany Golf Club. Following the round, the 23-year-old re-affirmed his age while addressing his game through the years. For the unversed, Bhatia sat at 10-under 134 at the end of round 3. The golfer birdied the 18th to take the lead alongside four others as nearly half of the 20-man field stayed separated by two shots going into the weekend. Interestingly, the round made the golfer look back at his game and reiterate that he is the “youngest guy” in the Hero World Challenge field. He further stated that Scottie Scheffler was “still working his way on the Korn Ferry Tour” when he was 23.The two-time PGA Tour winner further lauded the World No.1 by stating his achievements at the age of 28. Akshay Bhatia admitted using Scheffler’s and Rickie Fowler’s careers as examples to remind himself of the longevity of a golfer’s career.Speaking at the Hero World Challenge on Friday, Akshay Bhatia said, as quoted by Tee Scripts:“I think that I don't really realize how young I am. This week I'm the youngest guy in the field, which is really hard for me to process. And one thing I ask myself, which is kind of funny, don’t know if I should share it, but I've got to ask myself what was Scottie Scheffler doing at 23? He was still working his way on the Korn Ferry Tour, or maybe even not, I don’t know, but look where he is now at 27, 28 years old.So, I just try and remind myself that no matter how hard or easy certain things feel, it’s a long career. I was talking to Rickie (Fowler), it's his 17th year coming up and it’s really amazing like to process that for me because I feel like I've been out here for a long time and I'm not even close.”It is pertinent to note that Scheffler played 20 tournaments on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2019. The then-23-year-old won the circuit’s Player of the Year award after finishing top 10 in 10 outings, and winning two. Furthermore, the four-time major winner also made his first significant appearance on the PGA Tour that year.Akshay Bhatia’s 2025 season exploredAkshay Bhatia had a strong PGA Tour season which included four top-10 finishes.
