PGA Tour pro Harris English opened up about the limited-field events. The American golfer is preparing to play this week at The RSM Classic, and ahead of the start of the event in a pre-tournament press conference held on Wednesday, November 19, he reflected on the signature events.
The PGA Tour has introduced limited-field eight tournaments with an elevated purse. Harris, in his interview, talked about the schedule of these events and hinted at the changes for the 2027 season. He said (via Tee Scripts):
"I think that's what they're going to change down the road, maybe in 2027, is have all the tournaments be equal and not have the eight elevated events and the regular events. They'll have 20, 22 events that are all the same. I think that's a good model to have. That's where you'll see all the top players play every single event because you can't really afford to take one off. "
The five-time PGA Tour winner also talked about playing the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and other post-Super Bowl events. He added:
"As it goes for the elevated events, like I love -- even if they weren't elevated I'd probably play all of them. I have for a long time. Really, Pebble's the only one that I didn't play for a good amount of time in my career just where it fell in the schedule. I love playing on the West Coast. I love kind of getting off to that started of playing a lot of events over there and get your season started off good. We'll see where it goes. I think they'll more go where 20 events are all the same, all the points, all the money, everything the same," he added.
Harris English has won the Farmers Insurance Open this year on the PGA Tour. The tournament was held in January, where he carded the four rounds of 68, 73, 66, and 73.
The PGA Tour has eight signature events, which started with The Sentry. However, in 2026, the tournament was cancelled, and for the upcoming season, the first signature event would be the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, scheduled to take place from February 12 to 15.
The other signature events for the upcoming season are The Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, Miami Championship, TRUIST Championship, The Memorial Tournament, and Travelers Championship.
Harris English shares excitement to play at PGA Tour’s RSM Classic
Harris English is excited to tee off at the 2025 RSM Classic. He talked about the tournament in a pre-event press conference on Wednesday. He said (via Tee Scripts):
"It's awesome. We get kind of stuck in our routines for 25 to 28 weeks a year and it's definitely different sleeping in your own bed and going back to your own house and doing that. It's a lot of fun. A lot of family and friends coming out this week and a lot of St. Simons folks that don't get to see us play a whole lot, so it's awesome to play for them and be here at our home track."
Harris English will tee off for the event with its first round on Thursday, November 20. The tournament will have its final round on Sunday, November 23. This season on the PGA Tour, English started the campaign at the Sony Open, but he missed the cut.
The 36-year-old had some promising finishes as the season progressed, such as a T24 finish at The Genesis Invitational, T12 at the Masters, T11 at the TRUIST Championship, and runner-up at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship. He was tied for 12th at the BMW Championship and T13 at the Tour Championship.
