$50M-worth golf icon ranks himself third-best golfer of all time, puts Tiger Woods in the mix

Gary Player ranks himself as the third-best golfer on the all-time list and puts Tiger Woods on the list. Player is a retired South African professional golfer who joined the recent interview with the Palm Beach Post and ranked himself third on that list.

In the interview, the $50M-worth player (according to Celebrity Net Worth) went on to share that Bobby Jones and Arnold Palmer were ranked above him by people. However, Player stuck to the point that he bagged more majors than Palmer. His words were (via Golf.com):

“When they judge players… they put Bobby Jones and Arnold [Palmer] ahead of me. You can’t tell me that an amateur golfer has a record that I have in golf. [Jones’] record is not close to mine…You look at Arnold’s record, it’s not close to mine. I won more majors than Arnold. I won more tournaments than Arnold. I won more senior majors. My stroke averages were better. He didn’t have the record, and he was my brother.”

Gary Player further added that Jack Nicklaus was the first in the list, followed by Tiger Woods in second place and himself in third place.

“Jack is number one, Tiger number two, and I’m number three. There’s not even a question,” Player said.

Tiger Woods’ last major triumph came in 2019. However, Nicklaus’ last major came in 1986, and Player’s last major came in 1978.
