The lefty professional golfer Brian Harman was born on January 19, 1987. He currently plays on the PGA Tour, but was a former player on the eGolf Professional Tour. Turned professional in 2010, he had his first pro win at the Manor Classic against Jason Kokrak and Drew Weaver.

Harman won the 2014 John Deere Classic, beating Zach Johnson by one stroke, two years after joining the PGA Tour in 2012. Furthermore, having tied Phil Mickelson and Bob Charles as the only other left-handed Open champions, he won the 2023 Open Championship. He also became the fifth left-handed major winner, following Mike Weir and Bubba Watson.

An unofficial money event on the PGA Tour, the QBE Shootout was a team golf competition. Former golfer and CEO of LIV Golf, Greg Norman, hosted the competition when it was first called the RMCC Invitational in 1989; it was played in the off-season.

The QBE Shootout was superseded by the Grant Thornton Invitational in 2023 on the PGA Tour. This 16-team competition fields one male and one female professional golfer on each team. They play in the three-day shootout, which is a 54-hole stroke play event.
