The MSI RTX 5070 is one of the best GPUs you can buy for a proper 1440p gaming setup. It is also quite capable of playing titles that feature ray-tracing, thanks to technologies such as DLSS 4 upscaling, Ray Reconstruction, and more. However, the GPU was selling for a much higher price than its MSRP, which degraded its value.

Note: This GPU was evaluated at 1440p resolution with High/Ultra Settings, unless otherwise specified. All the FPS numbers were sourced from the Testing Games channel on YouTube. For the above tests, this graphics card was paired with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU.

At the 1440p resolution, the RTX 5070 delivered 60+ FPS in every tested game except for Black Myth Wukong. However, Wukong was being tested at its maximum settings, and lowering them to High or even simply enabling DLSS pushes the performance to 60+ FPS.

Furthermore, three of the tested games ran at 100+ FPS despite being quite graphically intensive, showing just how capable and powerful this card is.

Should you buy the MSI RTX 5070 for $499?

The performance that the RTX 5070 delivers is simply amazing. It is more than capable of playing any title at 1440p with 60+ FPS, both now and in the near future. Tools like DLSS upscaling can further improve performance in games. The card is also quite capable of running ray-tracing titles.

Given that it's one of the best GPUs for 1440p gaming, its discounted pricing of $499.99 makes the MSI RTX 5070 an extremely attractive option. Therefore, if you are in the market for a new GPU, you should certainly consider buying it.

However, if you want an even more powerful GPU for 4K gaming, note that the Radeon RX 9070 XT is also heavily discounted right now.
