AC Milan are reportedly contemplating snapping up Liverpool custodian Alisson as a replacement amid Chelsea's interest on goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The Frenchman is expected to depart the San Siro in the summer.

Alisson has been a key player for the Reds since his arrival from AS Roma in the summer of 2018. The Brazil international has made 312 appearances across competitions, keeping 131 clean sheets and winning every possible major trophy except the UEFA Europa League.

Despite being contracted to the Anfield side till the summer of 2027, Alisson, 33, could be on the move at the end of the season, as reported by Sky Sport in Switzerland (via GOAL), as a replacement for Maignan, who's slated to join the Blues on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old Maignan has kept 67 clean sheets in 179 outings across competitions for Milan, including eight in 16 games this season, since arriving from Lille in the summer of 2021. However, with the Blues intensifying their pursuit of Maignan, Milan have set their sights on the experienced Alisson as a like-for-like replacement and possibly even an upgrade.

Alisson has been a bit off-colour this season, keeping four clean sheets in 14 games across competitions, with three of them coming in the Premier League, where Arne Slot's side are in the midst of a stuttering title defence.

Liverpool and Chelsea have had contrasting seasons. While the Reds made a bright start to their Premier League campaign - winning their opening five games - they have since won just twice in their next 10, losing six.

However, following their 1-0 UEFA Champions League win at Inter Milan on Tuesday (December 9), the Reds are on a four-game unbeaten streak across competitions. They next take on Brighton & Hove Albion at home on Saturday (December 13), hoping to snap a two-game drawing streak in the league, including a last-gasp 3-3 draw at Leeds United last weekend.

Meanwhile, the Blues slipped to a 2-1 UEFA Champions League defeat at Atalanta on Tuesday, extending their winless run to four games. Enzo Maresca's side had drawn goalless in the Premier League at the weekend and next play Everton at home on Saturday.

Chelsea are fifth in the standings, with 23 points from 15 games, winning seven, two points and five places ahead of Slot's side, who are 10 points behind leaders Arsenal (33).
