Former Manchester United managers Erik ten Hag and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are reportedly in the running for the Wolverhampton Wanderers job. The two tacticians are said to be in the race with Gary O'Neil and Michael Carrick for the Premier League team's managerial job.

According to a report in The Mirror, Ten Hag and Solskjaer, who are without a club after getting sacked at their respective former clubs earlier this season, are in the running for the Wolves job. Wolverhampton are looking to hire a new boss after sacking Vítor Pereira.

The Premier League side are at the bottom of the table after failing to win any of their opening 10 matches of the season. They lost 3-0 to Fulham on Saturday, and that marked the end of the manager's spell at the club.

Wolverhampton executive chairman Jeff Shi spoke to the club website and said:

“Vitor and his team worked tirelessly for Wolves and helped guide us through a challenging period last season, for which we are grateful. Unfortunately, the start to this season has been a disappointment and, despite our strong desire to give the head coach time and matches to find an improvement, we have reached a point where we must make a change. We thank Vitor and his staff for their efforts and wish them the very best for the future.”

Ten Hag was appointed by Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, but was sacked just two matches into the season. The Dutchman fell out with the board and was given the marching orders less than a year after getting sacked at Manchester United.

Besiktas sacked Solskjaer after they failed to qualify for the UEFA Conference League. The Norwegian lasted just eight months at the club, having joined earlier this year on a 1.5-year deal.

Should one of the two former Manchester United managers be appointed, they will host the Red Devils at Molineux and travel to Old Trafford for their Premier League matches in December.

Manchester United loanee heaps praise on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford spoke about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in October, hailing the Norwegian as the only manager he enjoyed playing under at Old Trafford. He added that the former Besiktas coach was the only boss he had nothing against and told TV2:

"Ole is a fantastic person. I loved playing under him. I can speak for many of the players at Man United when I say that we enjoyed playing for him. We played good football under Ole. It was a very successful period for me personally. He is a fantastic person, and I don’t have a bad word to say about him."

Marcus Rashford played 135 matches under Solskjaer at Manchester United, scoring 55 times and assisting 36.
