Real Madrid are reportedly open to selling Rodrygo Goes next summer. They will listen to offers for the Brazilian, who has now lost his 'untransferable' status at the club.
As per The Athletic journalist Mario Cortegana, Los Blancos have decided to listen to offers for Rodrygo amidst speculation about his future. The Brazilian winger was heavily linked with a move away in the summer, but ended up staying at the club. However, he has failed to make an impact under Xabi Alonso and could now leave.
Rodrygo has made just two assists in 15 games across competitions this season. Following his appearance in Real Madrid's 1-1 draw against Girona away in LaLiga on November 30, he set an unwanted record. He has failed to score in 30 consecutive games for Los Blancos, equalling Mariano Diaz's streak at the club. Rafa Maranon is second on the list with 29 games without a goal.
Rodrgyo has started just four games across competitions under Xabi Alonso this season. With his contract expiring in 2028 and the presence of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., Los Blancos are open to selling him. The 24-year-old attacker was linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool in the summer.
Rodrygo opened up about his conversation with Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid
Rodrygo Goes' favorite position is the left wing. However, he has mostly been playing on the right wing for Real Madrid over the years due to the presence of Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe. In an interview with AS in October, he spoke about his conversation with Xabi Alonso regarding his favored position.
"When Xabi arrived, he called me in to talk and said, 'I know you like playing on the left, but I'm going to need you in other positions too.' I told him, 'Okay, mister, I'm here to help the team.' Everyone knows I prefer to play on the left and that I'm much better on that wing, but I'm always available to the team to play on the right or as a number nine, and I told him so.
"The truth is, he's only putting me on the left, and I like the level of minutes I'm getting. I'm doing well, although, logically, I want to play more. I'm in a process of evolution, and I'm getting better all the time, and I feel happy. I'm performing better all the time."
Rodrygo joined Real Madrid from Santos in 2019 and recorded 68 goals and 53 assists in 285 games across competitions.
