Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for USMNT and Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils splurged on new recruits in the summer transfer window, but none of them was a defensive midfielder. Casemiro has been Ruben Amorim's top choice in the no. 6 position, but age is catching up with the Brazilian veteran. Manuel Ugarte, who is expected to be a backup for the aging Casemiro, has struggled to find his footing at Old Trafford.

Adams joined Bournemouth from Leeds United in 2023 and has seen his stock rise at the Vitality Stadium. The 26-year-old recently turned heads after his goal from nearly 50 yards out against Sunderland, a stike that won the Premier League Goal of the Month award for November.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United have identified Tyler Adams as a potential midfield target in the January transfer window and are preparing around £40 million for the Bournemouth star. Adams is said to be viewed as a significantly cheaper alternative to other targets like Brighton and Hove’s Carlos Baleba, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.

The report was further corroborated by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who said Adams is one of the names United are monitoring for the January transfer window. However, he added that the Cherries are not considering parting ways with the player, at least not in the upcoming transfer window.

Tyler Adams has proven himself as one of the best in his position in the Premier League this season. Only Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo has made more interceptions than him in the league this term.

Tyler Adams looking forward to Manchester United vs Bournemouth

Manchester United will have the opportunity to closely watch Tyler Adams in action when they host Bournemouth on Monday. Ahead of the match, Adams relished the opportunity to shine on the big stage.

“It’s just a special occasion,” Adams said on the Men in Blazers podcast. “This is what you grow up watching, whether you’re a fan or not. A fan of Manchester United walking into Old Trafford will change your perspective on everything.
“I played against Manchester United at Old Trafford during COVID[-19] with RB Leipzig. That was the first time I walked into Old Trafford and I was like, my dream is really to play in the Premier League because this is what it’s about right here. Now being able to go back and play there multiple times and have good results, especially makes it a little bit better. So yeah, I always get excited to play against United.”

Ahead of the clash, United sit seventh, while Bournemouth are 15th in the Premier League table.
