Manchester United players reportedly feel that Bruno Fernandes will leave the club in the summer. As per The Sun, they believe the new ownership model and managerial changes have thrown him off.

Bruno Fernandes has inarguably been Manchester United's best player since arriving from Sporting CP in January 2020 for around £47 million. However, there was speculation about his future last summer, with clubs from Saudi Arabia interested. He explained in an interview that Ruben Amorim convinced him to stay at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have now sacked Amorim and are waiting to decide on an interim manager. Amidst this, a source reportedly told The Sun:

“Some of the squad think Bruno has had enough and, to be honest, they don’t blame him. He always gives 100 per cent and has been the club’s best player since he joined.
“But they think that he feels let down under the new ownership model and Amorim leaving has not helped. He isn’t a likely candidate for a big-money move to Saudi because he’s a football purist. But no one can doubt from the moment he signed for Manchester United, he has given his all."

Fernandes' current contract with the Red Devils expires in 2027.

Bruno Fernandes said he was hurt due to Manchester United hierarchy's stance on his future

Earlier this season, Bruno Fernandes spoke about how close he was to leaving Manchester United last summer in an interview with Canal11. He said that the hierarchy wanted him to leave last summer, but he stayed because of personal reasons, his love for the club, and Ruben Amorim.

Fernandes said (h/t The Sun):

“From the club’s side, it felt a bit like, ‘if you leave, it’s not so bad for us.’ It hurts me a bit. More than hurting, it makes me sad because I’m a player who has nothing to criticise. I’m always available, I always play, good or bad. I give my all. But it gets to a point where, for them, money is more important than anything.

“The club wanted me to go, I have that in my head. I told the directors that, but I think they didn’t have the courage to make that decision, because the manager wanted me. If I had said I wanted to leave, they would have let me go.”

He added:

“I decided to stay because of family reasons, but also because I genuinely love the club. The conversation with the manager also made me stay.”

Bruno Fernandes has scored 103 goals and provided 94 assists in 309 games across competitions for Manchester United. He has helped them win the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.
