Manchester United will reportedly have to pay £100 million to sign key target Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. The midfielder is seen as the ideal replacement for Casemiro next summer.

According to a report in The Times, Manchester United will wait until the end of the season before making a move for the midfielder. Nottingham Forest are unwilling to sell their key player and see the England star as their key player.

The midfielder joined from Newcastle United in 2024 for a reported fee of £35 million, after the Magpies were forced to sell him to stay within the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability limits. He has played 48 times for Forest in the league and is slowly becoming a regular in the England squad.

Manchester United are pushing to sign him as a replacement for Casemiro, who is in the final year of his contract. The Brazilian has not been offered a new deal and could be heading for the exit at the end of the season.

However, the Red Devils will not be alone in the race to sign Anderson, as Liverpool are also interested in signing the Englishman. The Nottingham Forest star is not the only player on the Red Devils' list, as they also have eyes on Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton.

Manchester United legend wants Elliot Anderson as Casemiro replacement

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has named Elliot Anderson as the ideal replacement for Paul Scholes. He believes that the Englishman can do well under Ruben Amorim and said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast:

"He has been a great player and I think he's actually been better this year than he was possibly last year. I think you've got to take his age into account and I think he'll probably move on after his deal is done. Elliot Anderson is a really good player. Look, I think they need a bit more than Anderson to get to where they want to be, to challenging, but, no, I think he's a really good player."

"When he was at Newcastle I thought he was a really good player. I thought he was more of an attacking midfielder and I didn't see him in this role that he's playing for England as a number six. But he looks a really good player, I think he's athletic enough as well and, yeah, I think he would be a really good signing but we'll see."

Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked with Elliot Anderson.
