Liverpool manager Arne Slot has reportedly decided to leave Mohamed Salah out of the matchday squad for the UEFA Champions League clash against Inter Milan. The Dutchman has made the call after the explosive comments made by the 33-year-old last week.

According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Slot has opted to keep Salah in England when they travel to Italy this week. The manager is not happy with comments from the forward, who accused him of throwing the former Chelsea star under the bus for their poor form.

Slot is due to speak to the media this afternoon (Monday, December 8) ahead of the Champions League clash at San Siro. Salah was at the AXA Training Center on Monday, training with his teammates, but is not set to travel with them.

The Egyptian hinted last week that he was set to leave Liverpool when the winter window opened, saying that the game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, December 13, could be his last for the club.

Salah is set to join the national team squad ahead of AFCON, and was set to leave for the tournament next week. He was not happy with his situation at the club, and opened up with the media in the mixed zone after the 3-3 draw against Leeds United, a game in which he was benched by Slot.

Mohamed Salah hit out at Liverpool manager Arne Slot

Mohamed Salah slammed Liverpool manager Arne Slot, revealing that he had no relationship with the manager who was throwing him under the bus. The 33-year-old believed that he had earned the right to start matches for the club and said (via The Sportzine):

"I used to have a good relationship (with manager Slot). Now we don’t have any relationship and I don't know why. It seems like someone does not want me in the club. I called my mum and dad and told them to come to the Brighton game. It doesn't matter if I play or not. I'm going to enjoy it."

"I'm just going to be at Anfield and say goodbye to the fans before the African Cup of Nations, because I don’t know what is going to happen when I am there. It’s not acceptable to me to be fair. If I was somewhere else, every club would protect its players. Now, it’s 'Throw Mo under the bus because he is a problem in a team'. I don’t think I am a problem."

Mohamed Salah has played just 45 minutes in the last three Premier League matches, all of the minutes coming in Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Sunderland.
