Federico Chiesa is facing an uncertain future at Liverpool, with the forward likely to leave the club in the ongoing transfer window, as per reports.

Chiesa, 28, joined Liverpool from Juventus in 2024 but has struggled for playing time since arriving at Anfield. While he has made 20 appearances for the Reds so far this season, most have been as a substitute. He has only started one Premier League match and has yet to start a UEFA Champions League game for the club.

Amid his reduced role, reports emerged that the Italian has been in contact with his former club Juventus about a return to the Serie A. And with the January transfer window in full swing, a potential return to Turin appears to be on the cards.

According to journalist David Lynch, however, Liverpool will only allow Chiesa to return to Juventus on one condition. Lynch claimed unless a ‘really decent fee’ is put forward by the Bianconeri, Chiesa will most likely remain at Anfield.

“It would have to be a guaranteed permanent fee. There’s just no point loaning someone out who’s been important in recent weeks,” the reporter told Anfield Index.

“It would make no sense to me unless there’s a really decent fee that they don’t think they could get in the summer. Can you imagine Juve coming in with a fee that makes it worthwhile for Liverpool? I find it hard to imagine but we will see.
“It’s completely up to them really, they’ve got to give Liverpool a decision to make and at the moment they’re just absolutely not. So, it’s kind of not really worth thinking about until the moment that begins to happen really.”

Adding to the intrigue, reports from Italy suggest Chiesa is open to returning to Juventus, with the Premier League giants believed to be seeking around €10 million to offload the player.

Despite Salah’s absence, Arne Slot has refused to opt for Chiesa on the right-wing, instead favoring Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong in that role. The report stated that both clubs are interested in taking the winger on loan amid his lack of playing time.

To date, Chiesa has made 34 appearances for the Reds, and has registered nine goal contributions.
