Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is in talks to become a part-owner of the club next season, according to the newspaper Sport (h/t O Jogo). The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is reportedly interested in acquiring a stake in the club, as part of Saudi Arabia's preparations for a massive privatization of Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo has flourished individually at Al-Nassr since joining the club as a free agent in January 2023. The 40-year-old signed a new deal earlier this year, in June, extending his contract with the Knights of Najd until the summer of 2027. He is currently earning a reported salary of £178 million per year and £60 million worth of sponsorship deals promised by the club.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo is allegedly already looking towards the future as he is reportedly keen on buying a 15 percent stake of Al-Nassr. This deal is expected to be valued at €50 million and could increase if he continues to live in Saudi Arabia after his contract ends in 2027.
When will Cristiano Ronaldo return for Al-Nassr? Portugal skipper suffers blow after Saudi Pro League postpones restart
Cristiano Ronaldo last featured for Al-Nassr during their 4-1 win over Al-Khaleej in the Saudi Pro League on Sunday, November 23. The Portugal ace hasn't officially returned to the pitch since then due to the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, which started in early December. However, he will have to wait longer after the Saudi Pro League postponed the restart of all Matchday 10 fixtures this season.
The Matchday 10 fixtures were originally meant to take place between December 19 and 21. However, Cristiano Ronaldo and Co.'s fixture against Al-Najma has been pushed back, with the fixtures now rescheduled between February 22 and 25 next year. This was done to avoid any player unavailability issues due to Saudi Arabia competing in the FIFA Arab Cup.
After Saudi Arabia progressed to the semi-finals, the SPL announced (via World Soccer Talk):
"The League reaffirms its commitment to aligning the league schedule with the national team’s participation, as well as ensuring the best competitive conditions for the clubs.”
Cristiano Ronaldo is not expected to feature for Al-Nassr in their next fixture against Al-Zawraa (December 24) after being rested in all their AFC Champions League Two games this season. The 40-year-old is more likely to return in their next SPL clash against Al-Akhdoud on Saturday, December 27.
