Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al-Nassr are reportedly looking to sign Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international will become a free agent in the summer when his contract with the Catalan side expires.
According to a report in Mundo Deportivo, Al-Nassr have reignited their interest in Lewandowski. They want to add firepower to their attack and see the Barcelona striker as the ideal signing.
The former Bayern Munich star will be available for a free transfer at the end of the season, as he has not been offered a new deal at the club. He spoke to GOAL earlier this season about his contract situation, admitting he was unsure what the future holds for him.
The 37-year-old said that he is calm about his situation, saying that he is in no hurry to make a decision, and said:
"I still don't know the answer. That's why I'm not in a hurry, I'm at peace with myself. And that is the most important thing. Even if, for example, the club contacted me now, I still wouldn't answer that question. Because I also have to feel what's best for me. Now I'm calm, I'm not in a hurry and, at the moment, I don't expect anything else."
Legendary Polish goalkeeper Jan Tomaszewski spoke to Super Express Sport earlier this season, urging Lewandowski to consider a move to join Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia. He believes that it is the logical step for him and said:
"Robert should now close the Barcelona chapter and go to a club in Saudi Arabia, just like the best players in the world - except Messi - have done. Robert is not very popular in the team and the best players do not give him the ball."
Al-Nassr have renewed Cristiano Ronaldo's contract until 2027, but are still looking to sign a new striker. They see Lewandowski as the player who can help them win silverware.
Barcelona star previously rejected move to join Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia
Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi, spoke to Fakt in the summer, revealing that his client rejected a move to Saudi Arabia. He said that the striker was not thinking about following Cristiano Ronaldo to the Middle East and said (via MundoDeportivo):
"Barcelona is his place on earth, where he feels most comfortable. In addition, clubs in Saudi Arabia are overflowing with players; they don't know what to do with them. There is a limit on the number of foreigners allowed, which limits their options.
"But Robert didn't want to play there anyway. A year ago, he did receive a concrete offer. They offered him more than €100m per season, but he preferred to fight for La Liga and the Champions League. And he almost achieved both objectives."
Barcelona are reportedly preparing for Lewandowski's exit and have been linked with Julian Alvarez.
