Arsenal are reportedly keen on making a move for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran in the January transfer window. This is as per a report from AS, who claim that the Gunners and Barcelona are among the big clubs looking to sign the Colombia international (via SportWitness).
Duran is currently the second choice at Villa Park behind Ollie Watkins but is an extremely valued player. Unai Emery's team has rewarded the 20-year-old's performances off the bench with a contract that will see him at the club till the summer of 2030.
This hasn't disheartened interested sides in approaching the number nine's entourage over a move in the winter. The Gunners themselves are looking for a striker, with the club currently operating without an out-and-out striker.
Kai Havertz leads the line at the Emirates, while second-choice Gabriel Jesus has failed to make a real impact. Therefore, it isn't surprising to see that the north Londoners are looking to bring Duran to their side.
However, with the number of years left on the Colombian's deal, a move for him certainly won't be cheap. According to the aforementioned report, any suitor would have to cough up about €90 million to acquire Duran's services.
So far this campaign, he hasn't started a single Premier League or Champions League tie but has proved extremely impactful off the bench. In 11 appearances across competitions, the striker has netted six times.
A move to Arsenal would certainly tempt Duran, with the Gunners poised to compete for the Premier League and Champions League titles this campaign. Moreover, the starting spot in the striker's position is up for grabs.
Arsenal are best placed to sign Viktor Gyokeres - Reports

Arsenal are reportedly best placed to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres as their search for a new striker continues. This is according to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, who claim this transfer will be far from easy, with the player's current employers demanding €100 million.
The Sweden international has been brilliant in the past 12 months and has got going in the current campaign as well. So far this season, he's made 12 appearances across competitions, bagging 12 goals and four assists.
The 26-year-old still has four years left on his contract at Sporting and could need some convincing to join other European sides. Arsenal offering Champions League football and the chance to compete for the Premier League could be sufficient to tempt Gyokeres.
