Nottingham Forest take on Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League match at the City Ground this Sunday.
Nottingham Forest are currently in 17th place in the table, but could open up a gap away from the relegation zone with a win here. Tottenham, meanwhile, are in 11th, but a win could take them up into the top six.
So who will claim all three points this weekend?
Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- Nottingham Forest defeated Tottenham twice last season, winning both encounters by a single goal. Prior to that, Tottenham had won four on the bounce against the East Midlands side.
- Both of these teams are coming into this game off the back of European wins. Tottenham brushed aside Slavia Prague 3-0 in the Champions League, while Nottingham Forest were slightly less convincing against Utrecht, but still won 1-2.
- Nottingham Forest were hammered 3-0 by Everton in their last Premier League match, their second loss in three games following a home defeat to Brighton on November 30th. Sean Dyche's side have now only scored once in their last three league games.
- After a poor run of form, Tottenham appeared to turn a corner last week. First they claimed a hard-fought point away at Newcastle, and then they impressed in a 2-0 win over Brentford in arguably their best display all season.
- Goals have been hard to come by for Nottingham Forest this season, as they have only scored four thus far, less than all but bottom side Wolves. Moreover, they have failed to score in eight of their 15 league matches.
Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction
Nottingham Forest defeated Tottenham twice last season, but they may not have things all their own way here.
Firstly, they are coming into the match after a poor loss to Everton, while Tottenham will be buoyed by their excellent win over Brentford last weekend, with the form of playmaker Xavi Simons being a real boost.
Secondly, while both teams beat overmatched opponents in Europe this week, Tottenham have had two days' extra rest and unlike Forest, did not need to travel for their game.
Add in Tottenham's great away record this season - only Arsenal have beaten them on the road - and the signs appear to be pointing to a win for Thomas Frank's Spurs here.
Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur
