Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes Marcus Rashford should be starting ahead of Anthony Gordon for England. He said the Barcelona loanee was the better player compared to the latter, and more tricky for the opposition defenders.
Speaking on ITV, Keane said that there was no doubt in his mind that Rashford was clear of Gordon. He admitted that the Manchester United loanee is frustrating in some games and said (via Metro):
"If you're comparing the two of them, Rashford and Gordon at their very best, I'm going for Rashford. He (Rashford) can still frustrate you, of course, but he's a threat and when he's on top form he is a handful. You wouldn't want to face him."
Talking about Rashford's first-half display, Keane said:
"He's been busy [against Serbia], he's been lively, he's made a couple of runs but he's probably a little disappointed with his end product because he's in great form and doing really well at Barcelona. His movement off the ball… He looks confident. Nice link up play on the left-hand side [with Nico O'Reilly]. He's been a threat. But at the end of it, you want a bit more."
Rashford started for England in the 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday, November 13. The Manchester United star has played 67 times for the Three Lions, scoring 18 times.
Thomas Tuchel sends message to Manchester United star
England manager Thomas Tuchel spoke about Marcus Rashford, sending a warning to the Manchester United loanee. He believes the forward has significant untapped potential and needs to find consistency if he wants to become one of the best in the world. He said (via ESPN):
"I think that is the headline for him [consistency]. To keep on pushing himself to the limit. I think the limit for him is very, very high. Maybe higher than for others. He has the potential, but potential is a dangerous word with high-level sports. You have to reach your personal best on a regular basis, that is what is demanded on this kind of level and that is the challenge for him.
"He can be one of the best in the world because the quality I see in training, the finishing with both legs and with the head. He is explosive, he is fast, he is strong in the air, so where are the limits? There are no limits, but the numbers don't reach the potential, it is as easy as that."
Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford has played seven matches under Thomas Tuchel for England. He has scored once, in the 5-0 win over Serbia in September this year.
