Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has tipped highly-rated teammate Morgan Rogers to one day join Real Madrid due to his impressive showings. The 23-year-old midfielder is one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League, with Villa slapping a £100 million price tag on him.

Watkins spoke with Sky Sports and praised the England international for showing what he is capable of at Villa Park. He further went on to state that he would not be surprised if Rogers moved to Real Madrid or another massive club in Europe.

As if on cue, Rogers was on target for Aston Villa in their FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, netting the second goal in their 2-1 win. The former Middlesbrough man has found the net eight times this season, adding six assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Morgan Rogers is expected to be named in the England squad for the FIFA World Cup, where he will compete with Jude Bellingham for a starting berth. A quality showing in North America in the summer could lead him to a blockbuster move away from Villa Park, with suitors reportedly lined up.

Real Madrid have shown a penchant for targeting Premier League stars in recent times, having signed Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen from English sides last summer. They will be prepared to sanction a move for Rogers if they find him to be a good fit for their project and system.

Real Madrid dealt injury blow ahead of Supercopa final: Reports

Real Madrid have suffered an injury blow ahead of facing Barcelona in the final of the Supercopa as defender Ferland Mendy has reportedly been ruled out. The France international injured his calf during the semifinal meeting with Atletico Madrid, causing him to be unavailable.

According to COPE, Mendy did not train with the squad ahead of their game against Barcelona due to some discomfort in his calf. He is not expected to play any part in the game while the club awaits tests to confirm the severity of his injury.

Ferland Mendy made only his third appearance of the season for the side in the semifinal against Atleti, coming off the bench in the 69th minute. The 30-year-old has played just 112 minutes for Los Blancos since Xabi Alonso was named as manager last summer.
