Football fans on X (formerly Twitter) tore into Vinicius Junior following his performance during Brazil’s friendly match against Tunisia on Tuesday, November 18. The Real Madrid winger offered little in attack as Seleção were held to a 1-1 draw in Lille.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men started the game slowly as Tunisia full-back Ali Abdi forced the first save of the night from Seleção goalkeeper Bento. The Eagles of Carthage also repeatedly caught Brazil in counterattacks in the early exchanges and took the lead in the 23rd minute when Hazem Mastouri clinically converted from close range.

The goal seemed to wake the South American side from their slumber as they threatened through brief flashes from Estevao Willian and Rodrygo, but Tunisia maintained a well-structured defensive setup that kept the Brazilians at bay.

However, just before halftime, Brazil were handed a lifeline when Dylan Bronn was adjudged to have committed a handball in the 18-yard area. Estevao assumed responsibility and converted from the spot to put his side back on level terms.

Brazil could have won it in the second half, as they were awarded another penalty after Ferjani Sassi brought down Vitor Roque in the box. However, Lucas Paqueta blazed the spot kick over the crossbar.

During 90 minutes of play, Vinicius was largely invisible, failing to register a shot on target and losing possession nine times. After the match, fans took to social media to slam him, with one writing:

“Bro is soo washed.”

Another tweeted:

“But when you watch him play you'll see nothing.”

A third mocked comparisons between Vinicius and Neymar, saying the Real Madrid star couldn’t even complete a cutback pass.

“Better than Neymar but can't even complete a cutback 😭,” they wrote.

Another claimed he was outperformed by an 18-year-old—seemingly Estevao.

“Getting outplayed by an 18-year-old,” they remarked.

A fifth quipped at the possibility of Vinicius being called up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“They will take this Guy to the World Cup?? 🤣🤣,” they jested.

“We had a much more difficult game” – Carlo Ancelotti on Brazil’s 1-1 friendly draw with Tunisia

Brazil national team head coach Carlo Ancelotti said the game against Tunisia was ‘more difficult’ than their 2-0 win over Senegal on Saturday, November 15. Ancelotti claimed Tunisia played with a low block and emphasized that his team could have won the match.

Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said:

“We had a much more difficult game against Tunisia. We had said that Tunisia has different characteristics, they defend with a very low block, and because of our characteristics, the players we have up front, it's more complicated to break through those defenses. We started the game badly, but gradually reacted, and we could have won. In the second half, given the difficulties of limited space, we played the game we should have played.”

The game against Tunisia marked the last match in 2025 for Ancelotti's side. They will return to action in March for matches against European teams.
