Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has been offered to West Ham United in a surprise move ahead of the January transfer window, as per reports. The Dutch striker has struggled for impact since arriving at Old Trafford, leading to talk of his future being away from the club.

According to a report from journalist Sacha Tavolieri (via Get Football News France), Zirkzee could be on his way to the London Stadium in January. The 24-year-old is keen to move away from Manchester United but prefers to remain in the Premier League, hence the links to West Ham.

Joshua Zirkzee joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2024 and struggled to find the net in his debut season at the club, scoring seven times in 49 appearances. The former Bologna man has since seen attackers Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo all come into the team as attacking reinforcement.

Zirkzee has appeared five times, all off the bench, for Ruben Amorim's side this season, playing a grand total of around 90 minutes. The Dutchman has yet to score a goal or register an assist since the beginning of the campaign, partly due to his limited game time for Manchester United.

Weighing heavily on Zirkzee's mind this season would be the FIFA World Cup, which will take place next summer in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The striker has not represented the Netherlands for a full year, last doing so in November 2024. He will be looking to play regularly in the second half of the season and boost his chances of getting selected for the tournament.

West Ham are languishing in 19th place in the Premier League with just seven goals in nine games this season. They will look to reinforce their squad in the January transfer window, and a new striker will be near the top of their shopping list.

Manchester United legend hails summer signing over impact

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has lavished praise on summer signing Bryan Mbeumo after his impressive start to life at Old Trafford. The Cameroon international joined the club from Brentford in the summer and has managed to hit the ground running.

Rooney spoke on The Wayne Rooney Show, praising the forward for his consistency so far this season, pointing out that Mbeumo will be feeling very confident going forward. He also went on to declare the forward as the club's best signing of the summer.

"Mbeumo has been consistent with his performances, I think that's the main thing. If you're consistently getting in the right positions, getting chances, you will score. When you're a forward and you score goals, you enjoy scoring goals and that feeling keeps going. His confidence is very high at the minute. Hopefully that continues because he's certainly been the best signing for United this season", he said (via BBC).

Bryan Mbeumo scored a brace for the Red Devils as they dispatched Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford at the weekend. The 26-year-old has scored four goals and provided an assist in nine appearances in the league this season.
