Lionel Messi has vowed to return to India after his GOAT Tour ended on Monday, December 15. The Argentine legend said he hopes to return to play a game in the country or to organize another event.
Speaking to the fans gathered in Delhi, Messi thanked them for their love and promised a return to India soon. He added that it was a beautiful experience for him and for Rodrigo De Paul and Luis Suarez, who were also with him throughout the tour. He said (via HT):
"I just want to thank everyone for the love and affection during these days in India. In fact, it was a truly beautiful experience for us to be able to share it. And although it was short and intense, it was wonderful to receive all this love that I knew existed, but receiving it directly was amazing."
"It was a crazy experience, everything they did for us these days. So, we carry all this love with us, and we will definitely return, hopefully one day to play a match or on another occasion, but we will definitely return to visit India. Thank you very much."
Lionel Messi's tour began with chaos in Kolkata, as fans were unable to get a glimpse of the footballer, who was escorted away by his security guards within minutes after a crowd gathered around him on the pitch.
Sunil Chhetri sends message to Lionel Messi after meeting
Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri posted a message for Lionel Messi after meeting with the Argentine legend in Mumbai. He revealed that he was close to skipping the event due to an injury and posted:
"I almost didn’t make the trip to Mumbai, till the fan in me rebelled and went anyway. Turned out, meeting the man who makes me very happy, and whose art is my antidote for all the times I am sad, was exactly what I needed."
"To be able to express my gratitude to Lionel Mesi in person for everything that he has done for our sport, felt like both - a dream and a duty. It was lovely to meet another World Cup winner in Rodrigo De Paul, and then there was the child-like excitement to share the frame with arguably the most complete No.9 of our generation - Luis Suarez."
Lionel Messi visited Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi after the chaotic start in Kolkata. The Argentine departs for the United States before heading on vacation with his family.
