Chelsea fans are furious with Enzo Maresca for starting Tosin Adarabioyo against Leeds United in the Premier League. Many believe that the defender will cost them the game, saying he is bound to make errors.
Maresca has kept his faith in Robert Sanchez in goal, but the defense sees multiple changes. Trevoh Chalobah has been moved to the right-back position, with Tosin and Benoit Badiashile coming in, while Marc Cucurella keeps his place at left-back.
Andrey Santos and Enzo Fernandez are the midfielders today, with Estevao Willian starting at right wing and Jamie Gittens on the left. Joao Pedro drops to the attacking midfield role, and Liam Delap leads the attack for Chelsea.
The fans expected the changes, but see the addition of Tosin as a mistake and posted:
Maresca confirmed that Andrey Santos was going to replace Moises Caicedo, who is suspended after his red card against Arsenal. He said (via Football London):
"Andrey is ready. His position, once again, is playing as a six, like Moi's position. But he's ready. We have more options, we have more service, we can have different positions. I think one that can play good in that position is Josh [Acheampong], but we'll see."
The Chelsea manager also hinted that Cole Palmer would start, but the Englishman remains on the bench. He said:
"He is available. The last game he was on the bench for sure with the players was more complicated for Cole because now he needs to come back in terms of fitness condition. He is available, he can start the game. The idea of the game is to start giving minutes until he can play 90 minutes."
Chelsea start the game in third spot, six points behind leaders Arsenal and four behind second-placed Manchester City.
Enzo Maresca on Chelsea have better form away from home this season
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca spoke about his team doing better in away matches, saying that it was not planned but believes it is because of the teams they have faced and said (via Football London):
"It depends also a little bit on the teams that we face away at home. Now, I don't know. But for sure, I think there is no coincidence. For sure, there is something there. And probably, we need to analyse. The problem is that in this moment, it's very complicated to stop and analyse the game."
"Finish the Barcelona game, and the day after, two days after, I've been there, analysed the game, enjoyed that moment. But we were already thinking about Arsenal. Finish Arsenal, we are already thinking. But for sure, I don't think it's a coincidence. Probably, there is some reason why. And we need to try to analyse."
Chelsea can slip outside the top 4 this week if they fail to beat Leeds United in the Premier League clash today.
