One of the first activities on Messi’s itinerary for the tour was the unveiling of his own 70-foot-tall statue, which he did virtually at the Salt Lake Stadium.Thousands gathered at the 85,000-seat capacity stadium to see Lionel Messi, but shortly after the Argentine legend made his way onto the pitch, he was forced to cut short his lap of honor after a crowd unrest ensued.Sportskeeda’s Srinjoy Sanyal, who was at the venue, said fans were unhappy as all police and politicians surrounded Messi, preventing spectators from catching a glimpse of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner. Messi also stayed for only 22 minutes. Other programs didn’t happen as planned. Minimum tickets were for ₹4500, and people are taking their frustration out on Satadru Dutta (organiser), police, and politicians.Angry fans resorted to throwing bottles onto the pitch and vandalizing banners to vent their disappointment. Many of them started booing as soon as Lionel Messi was heading towards the car. All the leaders and ministers surrounded him. We couldn't see anything. He didn't take a single kick or a single penalty. They said they would bring Shah Rukh Khan too. They didn't bring anyone.
