Portugal’s away kit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been leaked, and fans on X have shared their thoughts on the design. The jersey, designed by Puma, will mark the second set of kits the clothing brand has created for the Portugal national team after releasing the first earlier this year.

Seleção das Quinas sealed their World Cup qualification in style after routing Armenia 9-1 in their last qualifying match on Sunday, November 16, in Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence. Nike had been the jersey supplier for the Portugal national team for almost three decades, since 1997, but their partnership came to an end in 2024.

The Puma Portugal 2026 away shirt is predominantly turquoise in colour and bears the theme ‘Connecting Heroes.’ It also features V-shaped cuts across the chest, and the national crest is centrally placed with a dark red Puma logo beneath it. The design is reportedly inspired by superhero suits (v-design) and the ocean (graphic).

The design, however, didn’t appeal to several fans, who took to social media to share their opinions.

An X user wrote:

“Ts is so mid bro i thought Puma will cook better than Nike.”

Another tweeted:

“That white color again.🤨 I'm afraid even Trump won't help here.☹.”

“Another white away kit, repeat of 2018, 2021 euros & 2022 loading ☠️,” a fourth chimed in.

“We're screwed,” another added.

One labeled it ‘ugly’ and berated Puma for their recent jersey designs.

“Ugly as hell. Puma have been a severe let down of late,” they remarked.

The jersey is expected to be available for purchase starting in early 2026. It is also expected to be completed with white shorts and socks.

Portugal drops to sixth in FIFA rankings

The Portuguese national football team has slipped one place in the latest FIFA World Rankings, falling from fifth to sixth globally. The new rankings released on FIFA’s official website on Wednesday, November 19, saw Seleção lose their previous position to Brazil, who jumped two places into fifth.

Portugal lost their penultimate game in World Cup qualifying—an away 2-0 defeat to Ireland in Dublin. That left them with a loss of 17.62 points. Brazil, on the other hand, gained 1.61 points to leapfrog them in the rankings.

Spain leads the rankings with 1,877.18 points and are closely followed by Argentina and France, who have 1,873.33 and 1,870 points, respectively.
