Real Madrid fans online have slammed Vinicius Junior for his display during their 2-1 loss to Manchester City. Both sides were in action in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, December 10.
After registering an ugly defeat in the LaLiga ahead of the encounter, Real Madrid were expected to bounce back against Manchester City. Rodrygo scored an excellent goal, giving Los Blancos an early lead in the 28th minute.
However, Manchester City responded almost immediately as Nico O’Reilly (35’) scored from close range to restore parity for the visitors. At the cusp of halftime (43’), Antonio Rudiger brought down Erling Haaland in the penalty box, and City were awarded a spot-kick.
Haaland stepped up to take and dispatched the ball into the back of the net. Despite an improved attacking display by Los Blancos in the second half, the game ended 2-1 in favor of Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Vinicius failed to register a shot on target, missed two big chances, and lost possession of the ball 15 times (via Sofascore). After the encounter, fans took to X to berate his display, with one tweeting:
"Vinicius tried his hardest to make Xavi get sacked."
"Omo no words for Vini walai."
Other fans commented:
"When you're a Real Madrid coach, you need to be ready for tough situations - Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso had claimed that a Real Madrid manager is expected to be prepared to encounter difficult situations. The Los Blancos manager also revealed that the club is going through a tough period.
In an interview after his team suffered a 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the UCL, Alonso said (via Madrid Zone on X):
"When you're a Real Madrid coach, you need to be ready for tough situations like this."
The LaLiga giants have suffered back-to-back defeats across competitions for the first time in the 2025-26 term. An unwanted situation that has questioned Alonso's capacity to deliver at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Following the loss to Manchester City, Los Blancos have dropped to seventh place in the UCL standings, having registered 12 points from six games. They will take on Monaco and Benfica in their remaining games of the 2025-26 UCL group stage.
