Arsene Wenger has claimed that Arsenal are currently the best club in the world. The Gunners are currently leading both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League tables, and are thus considered the favorites to win both titles this season.
Wenger guided the north London club to three Premier League titles, with the last coming in the 2003-04 season. Since then, they have failed to win even a single English top-tier football title in over two decades.
During a recent interview with CNN in Doha, the former Arsenal boss was asked about his honest assessment of the club. The FIFA Head of Global Football Development said (via HITC):
"They don't need me, but I'm a big supporter."
The French tactician was later asked to talk about the Gunners' title hopes. Without any hesitation, Arsene Wenger billed Mikel Arteta's side as the 'best club'. He said:
"Of course. They are the best team at the moment."
Arsene Wenger managed Arsenal for more than two decades, from 1996 to 2018. He won three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups, and seven EFL Cups with the north London club.
However, he failed to guide the Gunners to European glory. The closest they came to winning the UEFA Champions League was during the 2005/06 season, where they lost 2-1 to Barcelona in the final.
Arsenal forward heaps praise on Chelsea teenager
Gabriel Martinelli has praised Chelsea star Estevao Willian for his personality and performance this season. However, the Brazilian forward also hopes that Estevao doesn't perform at his best during Arsenal's clash against Chelsea on Sunday, November 30.
Martinelli stated that the 18-year-old is humble and is also loved by everyone at the Brazilian national team. The Arsenal winger told the Evening Standard (via Metro):
"Estevao is a nice boy, his family as well, everyone's so humble. They deserve everything that they are doing here. The boy is so good as well, everyone in the national team loves him as well. He deserves everything that he's doing - and I just hope he's not on his day on Sunday!"
Estevao has made 17 appearances across all competitions for Enzo Maresca's side this season, scoring five goals and providing one assist. With a crucial strike against Barcelona last week, the 18-year-old became only the third teenager to score goals in his first three starts in the UEFA Champions League, after Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland.
