Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed that he is set to hold talks with Mohamed Salah today. The Dutchman said that the forward's future at the club and his inclusion in the matchday squad for the weekend depend on the outcome of their discussions.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Brighton & Hove Albion game, Slot said that he hopes to find a solution to the Salah situation soon. He revealed that there have been talks between the club and Salah's agents and said (via LiverpoolECHO):
"I will have a conversation with Mo this morning and the outcome will determine what happens. What I need is a conversation with him and the next time I speak about Mo, it should be with him and not in here. There's not much more I can say."
"I speak to him today, and the outcome determines how things will look tomorrow. You can try in multiple ways but I just said the next time I speak about him should be with him. I think there's been a lot of conversations since the last week between his reps and ours."
Mohamed Salah slammed Liverpool and Arne Slot in his explosive comments after the 3-3 draw at Leeds United last weekend. He claimed that the club had broken promises made in the summer and that the manager was throwing him under the bus.
Arne Slot reveals who took call to drop Salah from Liverpool's squad vs Inter Milan
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has said the club decided to drop Mohamed Salah from the matchday squad for their UEFA Champions League clash against Inter Milan at San Siro. He admitted that it was a reaction to his comments and said (via LiverpoolECHO):
"Who made the call? I think we decided as a club and I was part of that not to take him to Inter. I am always in contact with them with lineup and squads, that is always left to me. I talk to Richard Hughes more than Michael Edwards, we speak about many things."
"Do I want him to stay? Another way of asking but the next time I speak about Mo will be with him. I see no reason why I don't want him to stay. It's useless asking this question...unbeaten in four? This club has won a lot of games with Mo, so that is the answer [for feeling vindicated]."
Mohamed Salah is set to join the national team next week as they begin their AFCON preparations.
