Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has suggested that Noni Madueke could play as a left-winger in Mikel Arteta's squad. This comes after the right-winger scored a brace in the Gunners' 3-0 win over Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, December 10.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Keown lauded Madueke's performance against Club Brugge. He went on to suggest that Madueke could be moved to the left wing in attack, as Bukayo Saka is expected to remain the preferred right-winger.
Keown said (via Metro):
"When you start looking forward and think about Arsenal's best XI, you wonder if Madueke ends up on the left, Keown. Saka will likely stay on the right. We haven't seen them available together much this season due to their injuries but that could be an option going forward."
Madueke has struggled with injuries since completing an £52 million move to the Emirates last summer. A situation that has arguably affected his productivity and ability to deliver in attack.
However, the brace against Club Brugge could be a decent morale boost for the Englishman going forward. Madueke has registered three goals in 17 appearances since joining the Premier League giants.
While a move to the left wing could enhance Arsenal's attacking proficiency, it could affect the playing time of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli.
