Football superstar Lionel Messi has confirmed the addition of a fourth stop to his 'G.O.A.T' tour in India next month. The city of Hyderabad was included in his already-packed three-day itinerary.
Messi is set to commence a ground-breaking visit to India midway through next month. It will be his first time in the country since 2011, when he led Argentina to a 1-0 win over Venezuela in a friendly fixture at the 85,000-capacity Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
The 'G.O.A.T' tour will start in Kolkata on the morning of December 13; the second leg of the morning's events will be held in the evening in Hyderabad. Following that, he is also scheduled to visit Mumbai (December 14) and Delhi (December 15).
The addition of the South Indian city was confirmed in the Argentine icon's latest Instagram post, that read (via Telegraph India):
"Thanks for all the love from India! The GOAT tour kicks off in a few weeks' time!!! I'm happy to share that Hyderabad has been added to my visits to Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi. See you soon India!"
While Ahmedabad and Kochi were floated as potential stops on the 'G.O.A.T' tour, both of the locations were ruled out due to varying reasons. With the inclusion of Hyderabad, the 'G.O.A.T' tour has attained an all-India status, covering the East (Kolkata), West (Mumbai), North (Delhi) and South (Hyderabad).
Messi will partake in a host of exhibition games during his time in India. He will participate in the Padel GOAT Cup (potentially alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and other Bollywood stars), the GOAT Cup (alongside Sourav Ganguly, Bhaichung Bhutia and Leander Paes) and other such entertaining activities.
Despite having turned 38 this year, Lionel Messi is still going strong for MLS side Inter Miami
Although he turned 38 earlier this year, legendary forward Lionel Messi has showed no signs of slowing down on the football pitch.
The Argentine forward led MLS side Inter Miami to a third-place finish in the Eastern Conference and into the post-season play-offs. In the regular season, he racked up 29 goals and 16 assists in 28 games as the Herons finished atop the goalscoring charts (81 goals in 34 games).
In the play-offs, Miami beat Nashville in the three-game first round series (4-0 win, 2-1 loss, 3-1 win) and trounced FC Cincinnati 4-0 in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. In those four games, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner took his game to another level, bagging six goals and four assists.
The Argentine maestro will be hoping to continue his incredible form and help Inter Miami overcome New York City FC in the Eastern Conference final on Saturday (November 29). If the Herons do win the game, they will face off against San Diego FC or Vancouver Whitecaps for a chance to win the first MLS Cup title in their brief history.
