Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand and his Liverpool counterpart Jamie Carragher were involved in another online spat over the weekend. The former England defenders were having a go at each other over recent events in football.
Following Carragher's comments on Mohamed Salah and the Liverpool star's eventual return to the team, Ferdinand asked Carragher for his thoughts on the Reds faithful singing the Egyptian's name at Anfield despite his comments about the club and the manager.
Carragher was quick to accept that Salah was good after coming off the bench in the 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. He admitted that the winger deserved the fans' recognition for his on-pitch performance.
However, the Liverpool legend was not happy with Ferdinand asking for his opinion on social media and hit back with a hard-hitting question. He asked the former Manchester United defender for his thoughts on FIFA World Cup ticket prices, questioning whether he was remaining silent because he had been paid to be part of the World Cup draw earlier this month.
Ferdinand declined to comment on the ticket prices, instead replying with two fishhook emojis, indicating that he had successfully baited Carragher to bite back.
The former Liverpool defender was unimpressed, urging the 47-year-old to tag Arsenal fans and Piers Morgan if he wanted engagement on social media, rather than going after him.
Manchester United legend predicts Liverpool exit for Mohamed Salah
Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Mohamed Salah is set for a Liverpool exit despite playing in the win over Brighton & Hove Albion. He added that the Egyptian returning to the team was a way of diffusing the situation by Arne Slot, and said on NBC Sports (via Metro)
"I think it was a smart move yesterday for Liverpool and Arne Slot to get Mohamed Salah on the pitch to diffuse the situation. It was at boiling point after his interview. I’d like to think he’s going to go away and they’re going to come – or they have come – to some form of compromise, that yesterday wasn’t a lap of honour of him leaving, it was more of a case of him going to AFCON and then he can come back and play for Liverpool. However, nothing would surprise you."
Mohamed Salah is now set to join the Egypt national team ahead of their AFCON matches, and is expected to return to Liverpool in January.
