Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly ready to allow star forward Rodrygo to join Arsenal and have accepted an offer worth €60 million plus add-ons. According to Fichajes, the Merengues are 'convinced' that the Brazilian star isn't an integral part of their long-term project.
Rodrygo joined Real Madrid from boyhood club Santos for a reported €45 million fee in the summer of 2019. He has racked up 68 goals and 53 assists in 283 appearances for Los Blancos across all competitions.
Despite his incredible quality, the Brazilian seems to have fallen out of favour at the club. This season, under newly-appointed manager Xabi Alonso, just three of his 13 appearances have been starts.
The report by Fichajes claims that Arsenal have supposedly tabled an offer for Rodrygo in the range of €60 million, with another €20 million in attainable add-ons. It also clarified Real Madrid's stance on the 24-year-old's future at the club.
The report states (via Football365):
"Within the coaching staff, there's a conviction that the project doesn’t depend on Rodrygo. His most recent performances have raised doubts, and the feeling is that he hasn’t quite established himself as a decisive player in Real Madrid's crucial matches."
"Furthermore, his frustration with the lack of playing time in key matches has created unnecessary tension within the dressing room. According to internal sources, Xabi Alonso believes the squad needs stability and that his departure would ease tensions and reinforce his authority within a group undergoing a significant transition year. The offer is substantial and opens the door to reinvestment in priority positions," the report adds.
Last summer, Arsenal added significant strength to their attack, signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, Noni Madueke from Chelsea and Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. Under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners are firing on all cylinders, sitting atop the Premier League (26 points in 11 games) and in second place on the UEFA Champions League table (12 points in four games, behind Bayern Munich on goal difference).
A move for Rodrygo would help them consolidate their strong start to the season and potentially contend for the EPL and UCL titles.
Premier League giants ahead of Real Madrid in race to sign 21-year-old midfield sensation - Reports
According to reports from Defensa Central (via Madrid Universal), Liverpool have opened talks to sign Crystal Palace star and reported Real Madrid transfer target Adam Wharton.
Since his move to Selhurst Park in January 2024, Wharton has made 58 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions. He has turned heads with his composure, pin-point progressive passing, intelligent positioning and exceptional intercepting ability.
Both Real Madrid and Liverpool have kept tabs on the Englishman in recent months. The latest reports suggest that the Reds may have taken a slight lead in the race for the talented midfielder's signature.
According to Defensa Central, the Merseysiders have already initiated direct contact with Palace's representatives to hammer out the details of a future deal. Their aim is supposedly to understand the fee required and be the first team to make a formal move.
While Real Madrid are also focused on a potential move for Bayern Munich star Dayot Upamecano, they will have to act quickly to stay in the race for Wharton's services.
