"Offered absolutely nothing in this game", "Had a terrible game" - Fans slam Arsenal duo after 10-man Chelsea hold them to 1-1 draw

Arsenal fans are furious with Gabriel Martinelli and Eberechi Eze after their 1-1 draw against Chelsea. Many believe that the duo were not close to the level needed to win the match at Stamford Bridge and were a key reason for the draw.

Chelsea were down to 10 men in the first half, after Moises Caicedo got sent off for a late tackle on Mikel Merino. The match remained goalless in the first half, but the second half started off in a different gear.

The home side took the lead just three minutes after the restart, with Trevoh Chalobah scoring from a corner. However, their lead did not last long, as Merino managed to level things up before the hour mark.

The scoreline remained intact for the rest of the game, and Arsenal fans believe that it was two points dropped. Many are blaming Martinelli and Eze for the draw and said:

Awful performance, the quality on the ball was poor, martinelli, eze, noni was shit today. They wanted it more than us, embarrassing, Chelsea are no where near as good as us.

Mikel Arteta spoke about the draw after the game and said:

"I think it was a really proper London derby. Really intense, you could sense from the beginning that every duel, every action has something on it. Two teams very willing to win and not much football. It was a lot of restarts, a lot of free-kicks, stops, a lot of yellow cards, so not a lot of fluidity. But after the sending off of Kayser, obviously we wanted to settle the game. We didn't manage to do that. We had more yellow cards, we had four yellow cards."

"Obviously, those players were constantly targeted to try to even the game in terms of numbers. At half-time, we said, OK, let's pause it now. Let's now get what we have to do. Very clear what the intention and how we're going to dominate the game. In the first action, long ball, gives a free-kick, wide free-kick, corner, concede a set-piece. So then the momentum shifted and emotionally the team had to react to that."

Arsenal are now five points clear at the top of the table, with Manchester City sitting second. Chelsea are third and remain six points behind the Gunners.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted that he was happy with the point, but is delighted with the performance of his players and said:

"That's a good point. But that's the feeling that we have and that's the standards that we set for ourselves. Probably it's because of the spirit and the hunger and how much they want it. It's so incredible that we will overcome everything because already a lot of things happened. But that's it. What we have to do is prepare very well and Wednesday try to be better than Brentford."
