Jamie Carragher has reacted to Mohamed Salah’s cryptic post, expressing hope that Liverpool will arrest their slide when they face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
The Reds have endured a rollercoaster 2025-26 campaign and have won just one of their last six matches. Salah was excluded from Arne Slot's squad that traveled to Italy to face the Nerazzurri following his explosive interview in which he slammed the club and head coach Slot.
Earlier today, Salah posted a photo of himself training alone in the Liverpool gym on his social media accounts, while his teammates were already in Milan. Carragher is among those who have criticized Salah for his outburst, branding it ‘disgraceful’ and ‘choreographed.’
The former Reds defender has further ignited his feud with Salah, expressing his desire to see the Merseyside club defeat Inter in the Egyptian’s absence.
Carragher wrote on X, quoting Salah’s lone picture in the club’s gym:
“I’m not sure I’ve wanted Liverpool to win a game more than tonight for a long time! Come you mighty 🔴🤞”
So far this season, Salah has scored five goals in 19 appearances for the Reds, a far cry from his tally at the same stage last season.
Jamie Carragher’s brutal response to Mohamed Salah’s outburst about Liverpool and Slot
Salah threw the cat among the pigeons after his side’s 3-3 draw against Leeds United on Saturday, telling reporters that he feels he’s been ‘thrown under the bus’ and that his relationship with Slot has broken down.
Reacting to Salah’s incendiary remarks on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher didn’t hold back and slammed the 33-year-old. He said:
“I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game. Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, I do not think it was. I think whenever Salah stops in the mix zone, which he's done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it's choreographed between him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position.”
Carragher particularly took offense at Salah’s ‘thrown under the bus’ claim, arguing that the winger himself has thrown the club under the bus twice over the past year. He continued:
“The one line that stands out for me is 'thrown under the bus.' He's thrown the club under the bus twice in the last 12 months. With the manager right now, he should be doing as much as he can to help the club get out of the worst run they've had since the 1950s and he hasn't done that.
“When we are talking about throwing people under the bus, he's thrown every Liverpool right-back under the bus for the 8 years. Can you imagine playing behind him for eight years? But we accept it because he's a superstar and he's scored 250 goals and he's given me as a Liverpool supporter some of the greatest nights of my life.”
Slot, meanwhile, has insisted that his relationship with Salah has not broken down, even after dropping the attacker from his squad for the Inter Miami clash.
